AlphaTheta has updated rekordbox for Mac and Windows to support HID mode for Phase, the wireless turntable controller developed by French DJ tech company MWM. The update means Phase Essential and Phase Pro users can now run DVS directly through rekordbox by connecting the Phase Receiver to a computer via USB, removing the need for an audio interface in the setup.
Phase works by detecting the rotation of a turntable platter and sending the control signal wirelessly to DJ software. The HID implementation simplifies the signal chain considerably: rather than routing timecode audio through a soundcard for rekordbox to interpret, the Phase Receiver communicates directly with the software over USB. AlphaTheta says the integration includes battery level display for the Phase units within rekordbox, alongside the low-latency performance that Phase is known for.
Cédric Vergé, co-founder of Phase, commented on the collaboration: “Phase in HID mode with rekordbox exceeded our own expectations in terms of precision and feel. We can’t wait to see DJs, both Phase Essential users and those who will soon get their hands on Phase Pro, push it to its limits.”
The update is available now for rekordbox on Mac and Windows. Phase Pro compatibility is noted as coming soon. AlphaTheta launched two other products recently, the XDJ-AN all-in-one system and the CDJ-1500X.
