Robbie Williams‘ wife Ayda Field has shared her most embarrassing moment, admitting she once “split” her trousers moments before meeting Queen Elizabeth II.

The mortified Ayda Activewear founder exclaimed: “I’d given birth to Teddy and I couldn’t fit into anything. I had these Topshop pants that I thought looked really high end [but] in the car ride over, the button popped and the whole front [of the trousers] popped off.”

She cringed: “It was too late to turn back…it was not my finest moment.”

The 44-year-old dished all to Women’s Health UK following the launch of her new activewear clothing line, which led her to claim earlier this year that exercise was better than therapy.

Ayda also admitted that her sense of style has changed significantly since the era when she met the Queen, and that she now feels sexiest in her casual clothing.

“[In the past], I was wearing tight clothes – Dolce & Gabbana dresses or Herve Leger bandage dresses,” she explained.

“There were clothes I used to buy where I needed actual human assistance to get in and out of them – and I would wear heels during the day! Like, what the f***? Why?”

The wife of the Let Me Entertain You hitmaker now thinks 90 per cent of her wardrobe reflects “a life that some other chick is leading”.

“She exists in this fabulous red carpet, high fashion world [but] the other 10 [per cent] is the life that I live which is all my activewear. Comfort to me is so much sexier than anything else now in my life,” she explained.

Meanwhile, she’s revealed that she’s on the lookout for any embarrassing clothing chosen by her husband, admitting “there’s all sorts of weird fashion choices he’s making”.

“Together we’re just willing to go for it and kind of suck it and see, and if we got it wrong, we got it wrong,” the actress continued.

She joked that, in the event of a fashion crisis, “It’s just a picture we’ll have to see forever. It’s fine. It’s just the internet.”

The star grew up in Beverly Hills in California and was no stranger to seeing the stars of blockbuster movies sitting alongside her in restaurants when she was younger, from Sylvester Stallone to Julia Roberts.

Although the former Hollywood socialite has toned down her showbiz lifestyle over the years and adopted a more casual look, she wants readers to know that she hasn’t compromised on style.

Insisting that “comfort and sexy aren’t two opposing teams”, she explained that she shuns anything “unattractive or sloppy”.

While Ayda is helping members of the public to look chic in their downtime, she’s also learning more about her husband than she ever knew before, thanks to the release of his self-titled Netflix documentary which aired earlier this month.

“I’ve known him for 17 years so I didn’t think there was much I didn’t know, but actually there was so much I didn’t know and having stories about something and then seeing them is a totally different experience,” she exclaimed to Virgin Radio.
