With multiple sexual misconduct allegations coming out in the techno community, artists are speaking out to protect their community and hope to serve as guiding voices to protect individuals in the future. Now Sara Landry has taken to social media to speak out regarding the situation, hoping to serve as a leader and advocate for safety within the scene. In the post, she states, ‘Over the last few days, my team and I have been focused on taking real, tangible steps to support and uphold the values of this community.’ While this issue is bigger than any one artist or team, it is clearly important and is being recognized by some of the leaders in the community.
Sara Landry further states that she, ‘had no knowledge of the sexual misconduct allegations that have recently been made public.’ That hasn’t stopped her from condemning such behavior outright and calling out behaviors of abuse, assault, and of a predatory nature. She closes her statement by saying, ‘This has affected me deeply and I am shocked and devastated. My fans mean the world to me, and I want every single one of you to feel safe in every space we exist together.’ While it is certainly a shame that such allegations exist in the first place, the hope is that artists, promoters, industry leaders, and fans can come together to ensure a safe space for all.
