Dani Harmer has been forced to drop out of a Christmas pantomime performance due to a reported “concussion”. The Tracy Beaker actress posted a lengthy statement on Instagram saying she felt “dizzy and nauseous”.
Sharing with her 145K followers, she said: “Sorry to not be doing the shows again today! I’m still not doing well! Still dizzy and nauseous! But hoping another day of rest will sort me out! […] Hope to be back very soon.”
Dani had explained earlier that she had suffered a “concussion”, according to The Sun. She wrote: “Absolutely gutted not to be able to do the shows today. I have a concussion, so under doctors’ orders to rest until I feel less dizzy and nauseous.
“Sending love and fairy dust to the amazing Shannon Lockey who I know will make the most magical Fairy Bon Bon. You guys are in for a real treat. And I will be back as soon as humanely possible.”
Dani is playing Fairy Bon Bon in the panto Beauty and the Beast at Mansfield Palace Theatre in Nottingham. She appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2012 where she came in fourth place.
Dani has previously performed at Mansfield Theatre in 2013 and 2019. She first rose to fame as a child actress playing the role of Tracy Beaker from 2002 until 2005, before reprising her role in Tracy Beaker Returns in 2010.
A few weeks ago Dani uploaded a series of photos of herself playing Fairy Bon Bon, captioning it: “The many emotions and faces of Fairy Bon Bon. Having a fab time in Beauty & The Beast at @mansfieldpalace still a few tickets left! So come see us before we close on December 31st.”
Since appearing on Strictly, Dani has opened up about how she received nasty messages online about her weight. The 34-year-old shared that she was shocked over being fat-shamed whilst appearing on the BBC dance competition.
“I got so many messages, people telling me that I’m fat, that I’m overweight and I was like a size six at the time,” Dani explained. “So I was like, ‘Holy moly, if I’m fat, God knows what other people must be thinking if they’re bigger than me’, that must be just horrible.”
Dani was paired with former Strictly professional dancer Vincent Simone during her stint. She later welcomed her first child in 2016, Avarie-Belle Betsy Rachel Brough.
The actress gave birth to her second child in 2022, Rowan León James Brough. She shares both of her children with her partner Simon Brough.
