Suno has launched Spark, a new incubator programme aimed at helping independent artists with their music projects by funding them, mentoring them and through promotional support. Applications have opened to unsigned singers, songwriters and producers aged 18 or older who release music under their own name.
What Is Spark?
According to Suno, Spark is designed to help artists with limited resources bring their creative ideas to life. “Independent artists have always played an outsized role in shaping music and culture,” the company said. “We want to help create a future where more artists have the opportunity to develop their craft, find their audience, and build sustainable creative careers.” Suno also states that artists “maintain full creative control and 100% of your commercial rights.”
Programme Requirements
To participate, artists must create between one and 12 songs using Suno as part of the creative process, publish those tracks on the platform with remixing enabled and actively promote both the music and its use of Suno across social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. The agreement also allows Suno to use participants’ music, names and likenesses for marketing and promotional purposes, including derivative works. Applicants must also confirm they own all necessary rights to the music they submit.
Additionally, Spark includes a 60-day exclusivity period following an artist’s final Spark release, during which participants cannot work in any promotional capacity with competing AI music platforms, including Udio, Riffusion, SOUNDRAW, AIVA and ElevenLabs. The programme also contains a “Good Vibes Only” policy, which states participants must not “disparage Spark or its participants.” According to the terms, violating this policy may be treated as a material breach of the agreement and could result in removal from the programme.
