Tiger Woods will indeed be back on the golf course — and on the PGA Tour — in 2023.
The 15-time major champion is set to return for the Hero World Challenge at Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas between Nov. 30-Dec. 3, according to TGR LIVE — which is a Woods venture.
The tournament, one hosted by Woods, will also include Justin Rose and Lucas Glover — who both have tournament exemptions — to round out a field of 20.
Woods, a five-time champion at the Hero World Challenge, has not competed competitively since the Masters in April, where he was forced to withdraw from the major before having surgery on his ankle.
Earlier in November, Woods told the Associated Press that his ankle was in better shape than it was when he had to step away from the Masters.
“My ankle is fine. Where they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issue whatsoever,” Woods said, according to the AP. “That pain is completely gone. It’s the other areas that have been compensated for.
“But all the surrounding areas is where I had all my problems, and I still do. So you fix one, others have to become more hypermobile to get around it, and it can lead to some issues.”
Woods recently caddied for his son, Charlie, at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship.
“I’m pretty sore after caddying for four days,” Woods said. “It was a flat course, thank God.”
The PNC Championship in December originally appeared to be a potential landing spot for Woods to return, with Charlie, for its ability to use a cart on the course.
But that does not seem to be the case now, as Woods, 47, will take part in this PGA Tour-sanctioned event, which means walking to and from each hole.
