Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce tipped his hat to the New England Patriots for showing his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, some love Sunday when she attended his game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
During the latest installment of his “New Heights” podcast, the two-time Super Bowl champ praised the Patriots for their support of Swift, who was featured on the Jumbotron during Kansas City’s 27-17 win over New England.
“I’ll say this, they showed Taylor at the game,” Travis, 34, told his brother and co-host, Eagles center Jason Kelce. “And I mean, you don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for somebody wearing the opposite team’s colors.
“[It] just shows you how amazing that girl is. They went absolutely insane when they showed Taylor on the screen.”
Kelce also acknowledged those “Brads and Chads” that booed when Swift —who was clad in Chiefs gear, including a beanie with her boyfriend’s No. 87 on it — smiled for the cameras.
“There might have been a few Brads and Chads that were booing but for the most part, everybody was f–king screaming their tail off for her,” Travis said. “I was trying to keep it cool … it was fun.
“Shoutout to the Patriots, New England, Taylor’s on record saying that stadium is one of the funnest that she’s played at. For them to show her is just kind of, showing her some love, so shout out to the Patriots for doing that.”
Kelce’s “Brads and Chads” comment was a reference to something Swift, 34, said in her recent interview with TIME, which recognized her as their 2023 Person of the Year.
TIME noted that Swift is “sensitive to the attention” she receives at Kelce’s football games.
“I’m just there to support Travis,” she said. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Swift took in the action from a private suite at Gillette Stadium, where she and her dad, Scott Swift, were seen cheering with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
There were cookies in the suite that had “Brads and Chads” written on them in icing, according to photos that surfaced on social media.
Fans from both teams showed up to the game with signs about the couple, whose whirlwind romance is dominating sports and pop culture.
The Kelce brothers also complimented Scott for his Chiefs attire.
“Nice sweater on there,” Jason said. “It’s a good sweater. Looks good on him … I think his complexion really suits green more, if I do say so myself.”
Travis had a good laugh and said: “I don’t know, it’s kind of looking real nice on him. It’s a swaggy vintage sweater,” to which Jason agreed.
“It’s a nice sweater, I’m not going to lie,” he said, adding, “It’s the wrong team but it’s a nice sweater.”
Travis was happy to see Mr. Swift having fun at the game.
“He’s rocking it man, and he seems to be enjoying himself,” he said. “Everybody seems to be enjoying themselves.”
Kelce and Swift are reportedly set to spend the holiday together, according to Page Six, which reported the NFL star has already asked Scott for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
They were first linked in September and went public with their relationship the following month.
