Brits are cashing in by selling unwanted items online, with fashion enthusiasts often turning to Vinted to earn some extra cash.

However, the platform can sometimes lead to rather audacious behaviour.

A woman’s attempt to sell a bikini for £10 turned into a comedy of haggling when a screenshot of her Vinted post went viral on Facebook, leaving users in stitches over a buyer’s brazen attempts to negotiate the price, reports the Mirror.

The post was captioned: “Love Vinted and the people on there. The whole site has such a lovely sense of community.”

The prospective buyer started by offering £3, then £2.50, and finally tried to get the bikini for a mere £2. The seller consistently declined these lowball offers.

Frustrated, the would-be buyer retorted with: “Shove it up your —- you —.”

This shocking reply sent waves across the internet, with thousands discussing the blunt comeback on Facebook, many finding humour in the rudeness.

One commenter shared their own experience: “Someone moaned at me for a blazer they paid £2 for smelling like perfume (even tho I’ve never worn it).

“I told them to put it in the wash because who buys second hand clothes and wears them without washing. apparently that makes me rude… £2.”

“Like sheeeesg FREYA I’m sorry my house has smells.”

Another added: “That’s nothing. One woman tried to buy three of my things and wanted to pay £2.50 for the whole lot! They were being sold at a 5-er each! The cheek! “.

A third replied: “The best thing is when someone buys your item at the most haggled price ever and you actually let them have it, only to find them selling it on again for twice the price.”

Based on people’s replies, it seems as though a lot try and haggle on the site, as many were keen to share their experiences. One was quick to point out it only works when both parties can walk away with a “good deal”.

But it’s pretty clear a lot of users just want to try and get the price reduced on items, as so many people said it’s happened to them. Others couldn’t help but have a little chuckle at the story though.

One person quipped: “But would she take £4? Someone should ask.”

Another replied with: “Spot the person who never heard no as a child.”

Vinted is an online community where people can buy and sell clothes, shoes and accessories. It’s become super popular in recent years, as people discovered it’s an easy way to make cash, recycle outfits and bag a bargain or two.
