Dancing On Ice 2024 bosses are said to have an “emergency plan” in place if Holly Willoughby decides not to return as host. ITV have reportedly left the offer to come back “open-ended” with the presenter following her difficult year.
They are said to be keen to “not put pressure on her” two months after she quit This Morning. But the programme is said to be “quietly confident” she will be resuming her position, which she has held since the competition’s return in 2018.
According to The Sun, Dancing On Ice would find an alternative from their “black book of talent”. The names mentioned in the report are Christine Lampard, Rochelle Humes and Josie Gibson, who recently took part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
A source said: “Bosses have left the offer open-ended to suit Holly and not put pressure on her after the time she’s gone through, and they are quietly confident she will return. But they feel Dancing On Ice is a set piece so if she does step away they know there is no shortage of glam female presenters to step in.”
A spokesperson for Dancing on Ice said: “Further announcements regarding Dancing on Ice will be made in due course.” Express.co.uk has contacted a spokesperson for Holly Willoughby for comment.
Holly is yet to address a return to the small screen and has remained silent on her social media since her October 10 announcement.
She wrote at the time, in view of her 8.5 million followers: “This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.
“Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.”
The mother-of-three continued: “Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day.”
Holly signed off: “It’s been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.
“Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much.”
Her exit came months after her This Morning and Dancing On Ice co-host Phillip fronted the former programme for the last time.
He left the daytime offering and ITV after it emerged he’d had an affair with a younger male colleague.
Dancing On Ice 2024 is expected to return to ITV1 next month.
