iZotope has announced it is joining Boris FX, the Academy and Emmy Award-winning post-production software developer behind Sapphire, Continuum and Mocha Pro. The move takes iZotope out of the Native Instruments group, where it has operated since 2022.
The acquisition brings together two companies with a shared focus on assistive, AI-driven creative technology. iZotope’s tools are built around machine learning workflows for audio repair, dialogue cleanup and mastering, while Boris FX has spent the past decade integrating AI-powered masking, tracking and roto tools across its visual effects suites.
Boris FX is already active in audio. Alongside its visual effects products, the company’s portfolio includes Sequoia, Samplitude and CrumplePop, professional audio tools used in music studios, mastering suites and broadcast facilities worldwide. Vegas Pro, Sound Forge and ACID Pro are also part of the Boris FX family, meaning iZotope joins an audio division that is already well established.
The company has spent over 30 years as a founder-led business and has completed a number of acquisitions in the creative software space. Each time, according to iZotope’s announcement, the acquired tools improved rather than stalled under Boris FX ownership.
What stays the same
For existing users, no action is required. All iZotope products, licenses and subscriptions remain fully active, and support continues through the same channels from the same team. The engineers behind RX, Ozone and iZotope’s wider audio plugin catalogue are still in place and continuing development.
iZotope’s current leadership, Todd Baker will remain at the company as VP of Product, responsible for shaping the roadmap going forward. iZotope says the move provides the resources and focus to accelerate its product roadmap, with more details on what is coming next to follow soon.
