The most iconic warm-up soundtrack in dance music is coming back to the streets of Helsinki. Darude has officially announced that the Sandstorm Run, his one-of-a-kind musical run-through-a-city event, is returning to Helsinki on 29 August 2026. It follows the huge success of the 2025 edition, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of the iconic Finnish trance anthem ‘Sandstorm’.
The 2026 event takes place at Kaivopuisto, one of Helsinki’s most beautiful parks, running from 3 PM to 9 PM on Saturday 29 August. The whole concept is exactly what it sounds like: participants run through the streets of Helsinki with ‘Sandstorm’ pounding through speakers, followed by an all-out post-run concert from Darude and friends. It is a chaotic, joyful and very Finnish way to celebrate one of dance music’s most instantly recognisable records.
For those who missed the story, ‘Sandstorm’ was released back in 1999 and has since transcended dance music itself, becoming the unofficial anthem of Finnish sports teams, a meme that refuses to die, and a track that has been played at absolutely every major festival on Earth. Notably, the 2025 Sandstorm Run doubled as the record’s 25th anniversary celebration, and the response was enormous. Fans of trance classics turned Helsinki into a running rave.
Full ticket info and event details are available via the official Sandstorm Run site. If your fitness goals for the summer involve any amount of cardio and some very loud trance, Helsinki is calling.
