Splice has begun a strategic restructuring of its organisation, including the reduction of a number of staff roles, as the company shifts its focus toward developing the next generation of music creation tools. In a statement shared with MusicTech, Splice said the changes are part of a broader effort to better align its investments with the evolving needs of music creators. The company did not disclose how many employees are affected or which departments have been impacted.

What have Splice said so far?

“Today, we announced a strategic restructuring of our team, including the reduction of some roles,” Splice said in its statement. The company added that it is “deeply grateful” to the employees leaving the business and said the restructuring will allow it to operate with “greater focus and agility”. “Our mission remains unchanged: to help every creator bring their music to life,” the statement concludes.

Impact on Spitfire Audio Unclear

The announcement comes just over a year after Splice acquired Spitfire Audio in a deal reportedly worth $50 million, expanding its presence in the virtual instruments and plugin market. Spitfire Audio is known for its orchestral sample libraries and collaborations with artists and organisations including Hans Zimmer, Ólafur Arnalds, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and Abbey Road Studios.

It is currently unclear whether employees at Spitfire Audio will be affected by the restructuring. Splice has not announced any further details about the restructuring or whether additional organisational changes are planned.
