Axwell is officially back. The Swedish superstar and three-time Grammy-nominated artist has just released his brand-new single ‘Whatever Turns You On’ featuring artist and vocalist Bonn, out now via the Swedish DJ’s own Axtone Records. The release marks one of the most-anticipated moments of his solo run this summer.
The new single showcases the Swedish producer’s signature blend of euphoric, high-energy production, propelled by the Norwegian vocalist’s captivating delivery. The Swedish star and Bonn share Scandinavian roots and a passion for pushing the boundaries of electronic music, and the collaboration positions ‘Whatever Turns You On’ as one of the standout dance releases of the summer.
The Swedish DJ broke down the inspiration behind the record in his own words. “This one’s been building inside me for some time. Working with Bonn was a great joy. We share the same instinct for what a record should feel like. ‘Whatever Turns You On’ is exactly that. Something that feels good and alive. I can’t wait to play it out this summer.” – Axwell
The release also marks the next chapter of one of dance music’s most distinctive solo arcs. The Swedish icon’s previous single, ‘Until the Lights Go Out’ featuring UK duo CARMA, broke a seven-year solo silence in 2025 and immediately racked up hundreds of millions of streams. The Swedish artist has now followed that comeback with the new Bonn collaboration, signalling a much more active solo era.
Axwell’s busy summer ahead with Swedish House Mafia and solo dates
The Swedish DJ is also heading into one of his busiest summers in years. As one-third of Swedish House Mafia alongside Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, the Swedish star is set to kick off the trio’s highly anticipated residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza on 28th June, followed by the landmark homecoming performance at Ullevi in Gothenburg on 29th August.
On the solo side, the Swedish producer will play Parookaville Festival in Germany on 17th July and Amaze in Sweden on 24th July. The combination of Axtone label momentum, the Bonn collaboration, the Swedish House Mafia residency and homecoming, and the solo festival run makes this the most fully booked Axwell era in years.
