Baby Audio has released SubCulture, a pitch-tracking bass enhancer for monophonic signals. The plugin automatically detects the pitch of incoming audio and locks its processing to each note. It is available now at an introductory price of $79.
SubCulture is built around three bass enhancement engines. Sub Layer adds a pitch-shifted sub-octave signal at up to two octaves below the original. Root Boost is a pitch-tracking EQ band that applies up to 18 dB of boost or cut at the fundamental frequency of each incoming note. Resonance is a parallel filter network modelled on classic analog designs. The plugin also includes analog-modeled saturation and compression sections for dynamics and harmonic control.
SubCulture processes any monophonic source, not just bass signals. Vocals, leads and melodic material all work as inputs, with the pitch detection locking the processing to whatever note is playing.
The plugin ships with 177 presets from Craig Bauer, Dakota G and Eryck Bry.
SubCulture is the latest in Baby Audio’s growing catalog, which recently included Grainferno, a granular synth released earlier this year, and Tekno, a synthesis-based drum plugin from 2025. The company also makes Smooth Operator, a spectral compression and resonance tool for mixing. SubCulture is available now for $79 as an introductory price, rising to its standard price of $129. It runs on all major DAWs on Mac and PC.
