Fred again.. will headline the inaugural event of Trans+ Future Sounds, a new series dedicated to supporting trans+ music creators, taking place at Abbey Road Studios on Friday 19 June.
The free production and songwriting workshop is presented by Trans Creative Collective (TCC) in partnership with We Are Moving The Needle. Running from 3pm to 8pm, the event brings together trans songwriters, producers and music industry professionals for an afternoon of mentorship, skills development and community-building. Fred again.. will host a 2.5-hour session as part of the wider programme.
Also confirmed are TCC co-founder and Trans+ Future Sounds founder charlieeeee, producer Sans Soucis, DJ and producer Messie, artist and songwriter Satch, and trans choral collective Trans Voices. A&Rs, managers and agents actively championing trans talent will also be in attendance.
What the day involves
The event will welcome 15 trans songwriters, 15 trans music producers and 15 industry professionals. The programme includes workshops, a live performance from Trans Voices, a gear and plugin giveaway, and an evening reception aimed at encouraging networking and collaboration. While all genders are welcome, priority has been given to trans and queer creatives.
Why it matters
The launch comes against a backdrop of persistent underrepresentation in music production. According to We Are Moving The Needle’s Fix The Mix report, just 2.3% of producers are women, trans or non-binary. Trans+ Future Sounds is designed to directly address that imbalance by placing trans+ creators at the centre of one of the world’s most iconic recording studios, surrounded by peers, mentors and industry decision-makers.
charlieeeee said the project reflects TCC’s founding mission. “Since we started TCC in 2021, our whole aim has been to make space for trans+ creatives to thrive, not just survive, in the music industry. Getting to welcome our community into Abbey Road, and to have artists like Fred again.. give their time and expertise, is genuinely moving.”
Trans Creative Collective was founded in 2021 to support trans creators and allies across music, film and art. The organisation has been recognised in the UK Music Diversity Report for its work driving representation. We Are Moving The Needle was founded by Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer Emily Lazar, and supports women, non-binary and trans producers and engineers through scholarships, mentorships, research and advocacy.
Further Trans+ Future Sounds events are expected to be announced later in 2026.
