Carl Cox has played a special charity show in London. The newly OBE-honoured icon performed a fundraiser at Gallery Club London in support of the Baobab School in Kenya, raising money for education and opportunities for the school’s students through the St Nicholas Nairobi Fund.
“Last week, I played a special show in London in support of the Baobab School in Kenya, helping raise funds for education and opportunities for its students,” Cox shared. “I’ve always felt that success means very little if you don’t use it to help others along the way. Seeing people come together for something positive is a beautiful thing.”
He closed by thanking the room directly. “Thank you to everyone who came out and got involved,” Cox added, tagging Gallery Club London and the St Nicholas Nairobi Fund.
The night sits inside one of the most decorated months of Cox‘s career. The DJ icon was recently awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List for his services to music, with the recognition widely celebrated across the dance music community.
Meanwhile, the wider summer is loaded. Cox‘s UNVRS Ibiza residency kicks off on 21st June, with B2Bs alongside David Guetta, Joseph Capriati and The Martinez Brothers, plus guest appearances from Richie Hawtin, Skepta and Honey Dijon. He’ll also take over Cave Romane in Croatia on 7th August.
Still, the bigger picture is the spirit. The Baobab School charity night reinforces something Carl Cox has been saying for decades: success on the dancefloor only matters if you use it to lift others. In short, the London night was a quiet reminder of why the dance music community holds him in such high regard.
