“Mother is here and this is gay heaven,” Madonna announced as she stepped on stage. Notably, that set the tone for a night squarely aimed at queer joy, freedom and community. Furthermore, it marked her first WorldPride performance since she closed Pride Island at WorldPride New York in 2019. Beyond that, it was the first-ever Club Confessions staged as part of a WorldPride celebration.
The Madonna and Kylie Minogue moment landed on the night of Amsterdam‘s world-famous Canal Parade. Meanwhile, the two-night, multi-stage festival lineup also featured Paris Hilton, Bebe Rexha, Purple Disco Machine, Oliver Heldens and more. Notably, the event also set an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the most confetti released in one minute.
Festival producer Jake Resnicow framed the significance directly. “Pride has always been about bringing our community together,” he said. “At a moment when too many people are being told to hide or make themselves smaller, gathering openly, joyfully and without apology matters more than ever. I couldn’t be prouder of what this festival brought to life in Amsterdam, one dance floor, completely free.”
Additionally, Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella praised the partnership. “Bringing Club Confessions to WorldPride Amsterdam isn’t just an event, it was a vibrant celebration of love, unity, and authenticity. This was a really special experience,” he said.
Ultimately, the Madonna and Kylie Minogue duet also lands in a symbolic year for the city. Amsterdam hosts WorldPride for the first time this year. Furthermore, it commemorates 25 years since the Netherlands became the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage. The festival raises funds for InterPride’s work supporting Pride organisations globally. Its next stop lands at Factory Town in Miami in February 2027. Notably, that will mark the first-ever Pride takeover of the seven-acre venue.
