With a wonderful array of technology, speakers, art installations, and music, Sónar 2026 transformed Barcelona into a can’t-miss experience for thousands of attendees. The 33rd edition of the event introduced new experiences and locations, offering a broader glimpse into the future of technology and innovation.
Taking place from June 18th through the 20th, the 2026 edition of Sónar Festival brought 150,000 attendees to the region for a seemingly non-stop collection of music and innovation. Looking always to expand and improve the event, the most recent edition finished on Saturday with 14 hours of music, marking the first time it ran six stages simultaneously from one venue. The event showcased over 100 musical acts, ensuring a wide variety of sounds and styles, including sets from Charlotte de Witte, Skepta, The Prodigy, Cabaret Voltaire, and many more. With three packed days, fans were also treated to exclusive sets like AURA, the highly anticipated visual performance from Amelie Lens, and the 360º improvisation project STOOR Live that occupied the SonarCar stage for two days.
The musical acts certainly draw plenty of attention and crowds, but are just a portion of the excitement that makes Sónar such a unique event. 2026 saw the return of Sónar+D for its 13th year as it found a new home at the Llotja de Mar. Delivering 200 speakers from around the world, attendees had access to a wide variety of masterclasses, round tables, workshops, and more as industry leaders came together to discuss a wide variety of technology and art forms. Much of the content this year revolved around the influx of artificial technology and what a post-AI world looks like. Welcoming over 4,000 attendees, Sónar+D once again showcased the crucial point of interaction between art and technology.
Ensuring something for attendees of all ages, families could spend time at Sónar Kids at Parc del Fòrum if they were able to secure tickets to the sold-out events. Utilizing the many opportunities Barcelona offers for events, the Sónar District was a new feature for 2026. Setting up at the Fòrum, alongside the OFFSónar series at Poble Espanyol, further showcased the popularity of electronic music in the Spanish city. Extending the party beyond the regular schedule of events, the District’s final event at the legendary Raval club went into Sunday evening.
Although the gates have closed on the 2026 edition, organizers are already looking ahead to next year, with Sónar returning June 17th through the 20th. Fans already looking ahead can register for presale access to tickets now for next year from the event’s official website. The Sónar team itself will be busy as they head straight to Tokyo for its first stop in Japan in 13 years. Operating as part of the NU Festival, it will take place June 26th, 27th, and 28th at Takanawa Gateway City.
